Joe Gaffney is a British photographer and artist whose career has spanned London, Paris and New York for more than five decades.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Gaffney first gained recognition in the early 1970s through his portrait work for Interview magazine, photographing many of the era's most influential cultural figures. His ability to capture both the character and vulnerability of his subjects quickly established him as a distinctive voice in contemporary photography.

Following a move to Paris in 1975, he became a contributor to French Vogue and went on to create fashion editorials and advertising campaigns for some of the world's leading luxury houses, including Cartier, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent and Thierry Mugler. Alongside his fashion work, he photographed an extraordinary range of artists, actors, musicians and creative visionaries, producing portraits that remain both timeless and deeply personal.

In 1985, Gaffney relocated to New York, where he expanded his practice to include painting while continuing to pursue selected photographic projects. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major public and private collections, including the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs at the Louvre in Paris.
